Day 5 - 9 July Canakkale
We woke today just as the ship was docking at Canakkale (pronounced Char-nack-ali) on the south coast of the Strait of the Dardanelles (once the Hellespont and within sight of the northern coast, the Gallipoli Peninsula). It was an abbreviated stop - we were underway at 1pm, so we ate breakfast in our room ahead of an 8am start.
First the bus took us into Canakkale proper. We thought we'd look around but it wqas only to show us the wooden horse bought from the movie Troy (2004).
Then back on the bus and it wound up the hills to Troy, where we parked alongside maybe 10 other buses and went into the park through the turnstiles. It is still an active excavation site and not as big as I'd thought.

We were back on board in time for lunch and I really don't know how we spent the rest of the day. Doing the things you do on cruises I suppose - eating, reading, napping.
